ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed all the directorates of Customs Intelligence and Collectorates that verification of consignments intercepted by officials at check posts should not be delayed to avoid negative affects on trade.

Following the complaints lodged by Goods Transporters Association, FBR Secretary Sanaullah Abroo has sent a letter to all authorities concerned urging them to use the online system if they sought verification of any consignment in order to save the time of transporters.

The transporters showed concerns that anti-smuggling staff and Customs Intelligence staff intercepted the trailers or trucks loaded with consignments and wasted time in guise of verification, which usually took many days. They added that transporters have to face financial losses due to the undue delay in the process.
