VISAKHAPATNAM: Five women, all around 40 years of age, were arrested by Yelamanchili police late Wednesday night from a house in the town for allegedly smuggling ganja. The police also seized 80 kg of dry ganja and `50,000 cash from the women.
The arrested have been identified as A Rajakumari and Fancy Shanmukha Sundari from Chennai, N Rajitha from Warangal, B Chirulakshmi from Rolugunta mandal of Visakhapatnam agency and Renu Pandey from New Delhi.
According to police, the women had taken a house on rent at Yelamanchili town about two months ago and were dealing in ganja trade. One of them was arrested in Visakhapatnam about a month ago. They were procuring ganja from traders in Rolugunta area and smuggling the same to Chennai and Delhi.
