BoI organising Pak-Belarus Investment Forum

ISLAMABAD: As many as 70 business leaders to participate in a day-long ‘Pakistan Belarus Investment Forum’, being organised by Board of Investment (BoI) on Tuesday to further promote Pak-Belarus bilateral trade and investment cooperation.

Prime Minister of Belarus along with a 70-member trade and business delegation is likely to attend the forum, said an official of BOI here on Monday.

Talking to APP, he said the main objective of the event was to enhance bilateral trade and investment cooperation between both the countries, besides introducing the Belarusian investors with local trade and investment opportunities existing in different sectors of national economy.

Over 70 leading businessmen from Belarus belonging to different sectors of economy would attend the forum to enhance bilateral collaborations and cementing the existing trade ties, he added.

Business to business meeting would also be organized in which Belarusian investors of heavy machinery, construction machinery, agriculture machinery and tobacco industry would participate the forum,he added. He informed that investors from other sector of Belarus like tyres manufacturing, food processing, pharmaceutical, glass and crystal industry would also attend the event.

The local investors and representatives of different trade bodies, chambers of commerce and Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry would also participate the event to find scope for enhancing bilateral trade and investment.

It may be recalled here that bilateral trade between Pakistan and Belarus was stood at US$ 57 million which had potential to further enhance to US$ 1 billion during next five years by creating institutional links and working together.

It is worth mentioning that President of Belarus had visited Pakistan during month of May this year and during the visit both sides signed 15 agreements and five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in the fields of education, technology, trade and defence production.
