Hyderabad ASO seizes smuggled goods worth Rs 5.2m

HYDERABAD: Customs  Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized huge quantity of LEDs, DVDs,  CDs,  gutka,  auto  parts,  shampoo  and  other items  worth Rs 5.2 million during  a crackdown in Hyderabad.

Sources told Customs Today that these items  were being smuggled from  Lahore  to  Karachi.

The  sources said that collector Customs Hyderabad Dr. Ahmed  Mujtaba  Memon  received a credible information regarding smuggling of above said. He constituted a raiding team under the supervision  of  additional  collector  Umer  Shafique .

The  ASO team  raided the premises of M/s Pak International Goods  Transport   Company  and intercepted a vehicle bearing   registration  No.C-1750   near Hyderabad bypass and recovered huge quantity of foreign  goods.

The ASO team  asked   the  driver  of  the vehicle  to  produce legal   documents regarding import    and  possession of goods   items  but  he failed to  provide any  documents  in  this regard   on  which  customs  seized  the  items  under prevailing  customs   law .

After  making  seizure report  the ASO team  deposited  the  confiscated  large quantity of goods  in Hyderabad State  were  house.

The ASO team comprising  of deputy superintendent  Sikander  Akber  Pahnwar, inspector  Khair Muhammad Pathan, inspector  Momin Shah,  seizing  officer  Qazi Abu  Tauseef,  inspector Mushtaq   Ali Lako sepoy,  M. Usman Junaiju, participated in the operation.
