ISLAMABAD: The official statistics of Federal Board of Revenue shows that only 1,16,00 taxpayers declared their income above Rs 1 million. The data shows that among them 118,000 taxpayers are salaried persons while remaining 7500 people are businessmen and industrialists.
According to these figures, major contribution in revenue generation of FBR is from salaried persons and only 10 per cent businessmen and traders are contributing in national kitty.
Sources told Customs Today that it is need of the hour to make our economy documented. After documentation of economy, nobody will hide anywhere to avoid tax payment. Sources said that it is necessary to include NTN number or Identity Card number in tax database.
