Customs issues examination timing for importers at Terminal

KARACHI: Customs department has issued new schedule for importers entry at terminal examination area which creates difficulties for importers.

Talking to Customs Today, an official at Customs Appraisement East said that no importer will be allowed for staying more than half an hour within the terminal area. While, on the other hand importers said that it is unfair and unjustified act by the terminal authorities for not allowing them to stay at terminal for long while inspection of consignments often takes more time.

Talking to Customs Today, official at MCC Appraisement East said higher authorities have decided to implement this practice at examination terminal only to decrease number of importers as importers gathering creates problems at terminal.

Official further told that one and half hour is enough for examination of consignments at terminal.
