HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized smuggled Iranian tiles worth Rs 2.7 million during an operation.
Officials said that Hyderabad Customs Intelligence following the instructions of Director Asif Marghoob Ahmed Siddiqui took effective measure to curb smuggling in the region.
Customs intelligence team on tip-off received through Deputy Director Muhammad Tayyab intercepted a vehicle Hino truck bearing registration No TAC-237 near Miroon Kubbu area of Hyderabad and recovered 1,710 cartons of Iranian tiles
The driver was asked to produce any documents showing legal import of the items but he could not produce any documents; therefore, the customs seized the items.
The customs team comprising including Deputy Superintendent Sikander Hayat Khanzada, Inspector Irfan Ghani, Seizing Officer Yawar Abbas, Inspector Syed Noor Muhammad Shah, Sepoys Ghayas Ahmed Shah, Musrat Ali Shah, Noshad Khan, Aslam Chuhan, Aleem Khan and others participated in the raid.
After making the seizure report, the team deposited the smuggled foreign origin Iranian tiles in State werehouse.
