LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the Punjab Revenue Authority to avoid damaging repute of businessmen but continue their campaign against tax defaulters according to the law.

According to details, Justice Shahid Jameel Khan heard the case of famous fashion designer Hassan Shahryar (SHY) versus Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA), whereas the counsel of appellant argued before the court that his client is paying taxes according to his sales, but the Punjab Revenue Authority appointed monitoring officers to monitor the sale because of which his sale is badly affected.

He argued that according to article 18 and 25 of the constitution of Pakistan any person or institution cannot intervene in legal business of any person.

On other side, the legal advisors of Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Barrister Ahmed Pinsota argued before the court that appellant is not paying sales tax according to the sales and is not providing the actual sales record.

After hearing the arguments of both parties, LHC judge Justice Jameel Khan remarked that sealing of business of traders without valid reason is not appropriate.

He remarked that if business runs then the people will pay taxes, adding that ” the PRA should introduce system of monitoring that is not known by the customers as well as not affecting the business.”
