ISLAMABAD: Seasoned official Nisar Muhammad Khan has just taken the charge of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) as its new chairman in a ceremony.
Nisar Muhammad Khan talking to the ceremony at the FBR House, attended by outgoing FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa, Shahid Hussain Asad, Shahid Hussain Jatoi, Ashraf Khan and other members and officials of the FBR, said that he really enjoyed working with Tariq Bajwa.
Praising Tariq Bajwa, new FBR Chairman Nisar Muhammad said, “He was an honest person and thorough professional. He introduced wonderful policies at FBR to increase tax revenue. He played his best role for resolving issues of Grade-18-19 officers regarding promotion and performance allowance. His tenure was the best tenure in FBR”.
Other outgoing Members of FBR including Shahid Hussain Asad, Shahid Hussain Jatoi and Ashraf Khan also praised outgoing Chairman Tariq Bajwa and they also commended appointment of Nisar Muhammad Khan as FBR chairman. They termed Nisar Muhammad Khan as an honest and hardworking person.
Earlier, changing the hierarchy of Federal Board of Revenue, the government decided to appoint Member Customs Nisar Muhammad Khan as new chairman, besides replacing the other members of the Board, it is learnt.
Following assignment of Mumtaz Haider Rizvi as FBR Chairman in 2012, Nisar Muhammad is a senior Grade-21 official, belonging to Pakistan Customs Service, appointed as new FBR Chairman. Nisar, a senior officer of Pakistan Customs Service, has previously served on various key positions across the country. He attended many seminars /workshops abroad relating to tax administration and reforms. His last posting was Member Strategic Planning Reforms & Statistics. Nisar did his MBA from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad and M.Sc. (Defence & Strategic Studies) from National Defence University, Islamabad.
The new core team of upcoming chairman will comprise Rehmatullah Khan Wazir as new Member Inland Revenue Policy, Chief Commissioner RTO Lahore-II Waqar Ahmed as Member Administration, Nasir Masroor Ahmed as Member Customs and Muhammad Irshad as Member IR-Operations. However, Nisar Muhammad will also be Secretary of Revenue Division.
From the old team of FBR, Ashraf Khan is being appointed as managing director of WAPDA, Shahid Hussain Asad as director general of National Centre for Rural Development and Shahid Hussain Jatoi will be member in charge, Federal Ombudsman, Karachi.
