SOFIA: Telenor would start selling the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus phones in select stores in Bulgaria from November 7.

Released in September and obliterating Apple records to sell more than 10 million units in the first weekend, the iPhone 6 has been available in Bulgaria since October, offered by Telenor’s larger rival M-tel, a subsidiary of Telekom Austria.

However, Telenor, the exclusive Apple partner for iPhone in Bulgaria, plans to offer the new smartphone at much lower prices than its competitor.

The 16GB version of the iPhone 6 would cost 800 leva with a two-year contract under the new Telenor Rezerv monthly plan (35 leva a month option) and the 16GB iPhone 6 Plus would cost 950 leva with the same monthly plan. By comparison, M-tel sells the 16GB iPhone 6 for 1400 leva with a two-year contract under the M-Tel transfer xl plan (40 leva a month) and the 16GB iPhone 6 Plus with the same two-year contract costs 1500 leva.

Telenor’s statement comes only a day after the company announced its official rebranding from Globul, an event during which CEO Stein-Erik Vellan said that the Apple smartphones would be “soon” available to Telenor customers “at extremely competitive prices.”
