BUENOS AIRES: Argentina this week will receive a 950,000-barrel cargo of Nigeria’s Escravos crude from Norway’s Statoil, according to traders and Reuters vessel tracking data, after state-run oil firm Enarsa tendered to import a grade from West Africa or North Sea.
Enarsa has been buying foreign crude this year through tenders launched on the open market every 2-3 months. Nigeria’s Forcados, Escravos, Bonga, Erha and Bonny Light are frequently requested by the company, as well as Norway’s Troll.
Two previous cargoes of the same size of Nigeria’s Erha and Bonny Light crudes arrived in Argentina in August and September on tankers Advantage Sky and SCF Primorye, the data say.
The Escravos cargo, loaded at the end of October on tanker Fraternity, is scheduled to discharge on Nov. 19 at Puerto Rosales terminal. It was not immediately possible ascertain the agreed price.
Argentina, which since 2013 has been receiving less crude from Venezuela, last year lifted restrictions on crude imports to buy light sweet grades for refining.
