MUSCAT: Customs officers at the Muscat International Airport have foiled several attempts to smuggle narcotics into the Sultanate.
Police said the smugglers conceal the contraband in different ways to render detection difficult, but officers at the airport had managed to seize 220 Tramadol capsules and 443 Clonazepam tablets.
In another case, an Asian was arrested for attempting to smuggle 633 grams of marijuana.
Police said the customs officers had found the narcotics while checking the suspect’s suitcase.
The suspects and seized possessions were handed over to the Department of Narcotics Control to continue legal procedures.
