Rs 10407m tax collected up to November: Mujtab Shuja

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mujtab Shuja ur Rehman said that Excise and Taxation Department recovered 10407 million tax up to November 2015 which is more than previous year.

He disclosed this while presiding over a departmental meeting. Secretary Excise and Taxation Ali Tahir, DG Excise and Taxation and Regional Director were also present on the occasion.

He said that tax has been recovered under the heads of motor vehicles, property tax, professional tax, entertainment tax and foreign house tax.

Secretary Excise and Taxation Ali Tahir told the meeting that Rs 4558.95 million rupees were recovered under the head of motor vehicle, Rs 4531.77 million rupees property tax, Rs 308.67 million rupees as excise duty, Rs 136.87 million rupees as cotton fee, Rs 31.33 million rupees as entertainment tax Rs 0.41 million rupees as education tax whereas Rs 0.37 million rupees as farm house tax up to November. He said that the recovery made up to November 2015 is better than previous years. He said that recovery reduced due to decrease in cotton production. He told that all regional heads have been directed to ensure recovery at the end of the year 2015.

Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman told the meeting that the target given by Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif is tough than previous year, therefore, hard work is required. He directed regional heads to continue process of tax recovery and achieve the fixed target. The Minister was told that tax recovery system has been computerized in six districts which creating problems in tax recovery. It is hope that all regional heads will continue strenuous efforts for achieving fixed targets. Provincial Minister appreciated the performance of officers and asked them to continue recovery with the same spirit.
