LONDON: Dark Souls creator and From Software president Hidetaka Miyazaki says Dark Souls III will be an ending of sorts to the Souls series.

Speaking to Gamespot, Miyazaki said, “I don’t think it’d be the right choice to continue indefinitely creating Souls and Bloodborne games. I’m considering Dark Souls III to be the big closure on the series.”

Now that he is president, he says the company has to “be aggressive about doing new things.”

“There will be new types of games coming from us, and Dark Souls III is an important marker in the evolution of From Software.”

On how the Souls series would end narratively, Miyazaki was characteristically coy on specifics, but said, “there is the conclusion to a large theme that has continued through the entire series, something that will leave you with the impression of what Dark Souls was really about.”

Dark Souls III launches on new-gen consoles and PC on April 12.
