Govt to give subsidy on agri machinery to promote mechanised farming

MULTAN: The Punjab government has allocated Rs1,183.6 million to give subsidy on agriculture machinery to facilitate farmers and to promote mechanised farming in the province.

Agri Department (Information) Assistant Director Naveed Asmat Kohloon said that the provincial government was highly interested in promotion of mechanised farming as it helped farmers to enhance crops yield and improve their financial condition. The department will offer subsidy on Rotavator, disc plough, sugarcane ridgier, cane toka, Nozzle Hollow cone, disc harrow, Rabi drill and some other machinery. A farmer should have at least 6 acres agriculture land for achieving big machineries. The agriculture instruments would be given at village, and union council levels.

One member of a family could submit application. The applicants should have tractor of 50 Horse-Power also. The beneficiaries would not be allowed to sale machines till two years. The farmers could avail forms from office of district officer agriculture, free of cost. The photo copy of the forms would be acceptable. A committee would scrutinize the applications.

The spokesman urged farmers to submit applications by November 30. The draw for successful candidate would be held on December 24, however the provision of machines would begin from January 20, 2016. In district Multan, the government would offer Rs 13.5 million subsidy on the provision of agri-tools at 64 rural union councils.
