Faisalabad ASO holds contraband items worth Rs 2.3m in three weeks

FAISALABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate’ Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized smuggled goods worth Rs 2.349 million during first three weeks of running month, November, 2015.

In order to curb the smuggling in the region, the ASO team impounded a used vehicle worth Rs 533,333, which was being used for the transportation of the smuggled items. It also held a non-duty paid vehicle worth Rs 600,000 during an action.

During the said period, the customs officials seized 2,056 kilogram of smuggled cloth worth Rs 948,454, besides confiscating the different contraband items worth Rs 267,260.

Talking to Customs Today Model Customs Collectorate Faisalabad Deputy Collector Muhammad Falik Shair said that ASO was showing excellent performance continuously, adding that smuggling in the region will not be tolerated at any level.

He said that customs has established check points at different location in the city and also at exit and entry points of the city.
