Customs Court approves judicial remand of vehicle smuggler

LAHORE: Customs Intelligence and Investigation authorities has seized non-customs paid Toyota Corolla car whose market value is Rs 1 million and arrested a smuggler last week.

Now the Special Court of customs has sent the accused to jail on judicial remand and further prosecution.

Customs Investigation team produced the accused before the court of Chaudary Ameer Muhammad Khan and asked for physical remand of the accused because they need further investigation in this case.

It was revealed during initial investigations that a number of people are running a network in Lahore who are involved in supplying of non-customs paid smuggled vehicles from Northern Areas to the provincial capital of Punjab.

Earlier, Customs Inspector Malik Mubeen and had seized Toyota Corolla on Wahdat Road.  The suspect is a resident of Sibi. Further investigations are still under way till the filing of this report.
