FBR assures OICCI members of timely resolution of issues

LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) held a second joint committee meeting with Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industries (OICCI) on Monday at Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU).

As per details, FBR LTU Lahore Chief Commissioner (CC) Chaudhry Safdar, Additional Commissioner (Head quarters) Aftab Alam, Commissioner Inland Revenue (IR) Manzoor Hussain Shad, Commissioner IR Khawaja Adnan Zaheer,  Commissioner IR Dr Hamid Atiq Sarwar represented the FBR.

On the other hand, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Nestle Pakistan John Davis, Tetra Pak CFO Misbah Burney, Bata Pakistan CFO Cesar Panduro, Berger Paints CFO Abdul Wahid Qureshi and the tax managers of the Nestle, Bata and Tetra Pak attended the joint meeting from the side of OICCI.

Sources told that issues of the OICCI related to tax have been discussed during the meeting. They informed that the participants of the overseas chamber highlighted the matters regarding the tax refunds (Sales and Income taxes).

Participants also presented their suggestions regarding the improvement of the tax system, they added. Members from OICCI hoped that with the mutual ties of joint committee, the issues of the affected members will be resolved soon.

Similarly, the FBR representative welcomed the suggestions of the OICCI members. Chief Commissioner LTU Safdar emphasized that the FBR team is fully aware of the issues of the OICCI members and assured them of the FBR’s complete cooperation towards their timely resolution.
It was also informed that OICCI Secretary General M Abdul Aleem could not participate in the meeting due to his foreign tour.
CC Safdar also said that foreign investment played a crucial role in the economic environment of Pakistan.
