TOKYO: Tokyo shares opened higher on Thursday as sentiment here was boosted by gains in the European stocks market overnight, as well as on the yen’s slight depreciation.
At 9.15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 112.77 points, or 0.57 percent, higher from Wednesday at 19,960.35, Xinhua news agency reported.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 9.18 points, or 0.58 percent, to 1,603.85.
