TOKYO: Tokyo stocks rose Thursday morning, with investor sentiment enhanced by firm gains in European equity markets overnight, as well as expectations the Japanese government will roll out policies to stimulate the economy. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 111.68 points, or 0.56 percent, from Wednesday to end the morning at 19,959.26. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 7.12 points, or 0.45 percent, to 1,601.79.
