Customs Court sends accused to jail in alcohol smuggling  case

LAHORE: Two suspects, Allah Ditta and Abbas Ali, were arrested by the security forces from international border while making attempt to smuggle alcohol from India.

According to details available to Customs Today, the Punjab Rangers had arrested them at Wagha Border after a clash while they were smuggling alcohol from Indian to Pakistan.

Rangers also recovered 58 bottles of alcohol from their custody. Smugglers were trying to smuggle that alcohol from India with the collaboration of Indian accomplices. Both the accused were on judicial remand for 14 days and court has sent them to jail for extended judicial remand.

Earlier sources told Customs Today that Rangers was busy in routine work at Wagah border zero line when they observed a suspicious movement on the Indian side. The Rangers found some unidentified people trying to carry something from the Indian side.

When the Rangers asked them to stop there, they started firing which was retaliated. In the ensuing encounter, the Rangers arrested two smugglers who were identified as Allah Ditta and Abbas Ali.
