UK stocks weaker at end, United Kingdom 100 declines 0.33%

NEW YORK: U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Mining, Chemicals and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares lower.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.33%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Inmarsat PLC (L:ISA), which rose 2.30% or 25.00 points to trade at 1113.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Severn Trent PLC (L:SVT) added 2.09% or 46.00 points to end at 2248.00 and Dixons Carphone PLC (L:DC) was up 1.65% or 7.80 points to 481.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Anglo American PLC (L:AAL), which fell 8.18% or 35.65 points to trade at 400.15 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (L:FRES) declined 4.54% or 34.00 points to end at 715.00 and Randgold Resources Ltd (L:RRS) was down 4.29% or 179.00 points to 3997.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1034 to 998 and 528 ended unchanged.

Shares in Inmarsat PLC (L:ISA) rose to all time highs; rising 2.30% or 25.00 to 1113.00. Shares in Anglo American PLC (L:AAL) fell to 5-year lows; falling 8.18% or 35.65 to 400.15.

Gold for December delivery was down 1.23% or 13.20 to $1056.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.49% or 1.07 to hit $41.97 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.26% or 0.57 to trade at $44.88 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 0.44% to 1.5036, while EUR/GBP rose 0.33% to 0.7050.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 100.09.
