Indian police clutch two liquor smugglers

NOIDA: Two people were arrested for allegedly smuggling liquor and police recovered 400 cartons of illicit liquor from their possession here the other day.

According to police, they stopped the truck for checking in Kasna, Greater Noida, and seized the illicit liqour bottles. They also seized the vehicle. The accused were identified as Rinku Singh and Naresh Singh. The third accused, Jeet Nagar, managed to flee the spot.

Anil Pratap Singh, station house officer at Kasna police station, said a police team was deployed in the area to check and seize the vehicles which transport illegal liqour from Haryana to Uttar Pradesh.

“A goods carrier was spotted by the team. The truck driver and helper was asked to show the papers of the vehicle and the goods, which they failed to produce. We arrested two persons while the third accused managed to escape,” he said.

Police said the truck was carrying 400 cartons of illegal Haryana-made liquor.
