Govt decides against extending tax concessions beyond June 30

KARACHI: All Karachi Trade Union Chairman Ateeq Mir said that amendments in SRO-608 have not been taken back by the Federal Board of Revenue.
He said that union demanded the FBR time and again to take back the SRO and held protests, but the board officials did not pay attention.
“We will not pay income tax returns. We will not allow tax survey teams to enter markets. Our demands are genuine and we will protest until the FBR acknowledge our demands.”
Mir said that the tax system should be simple and easy. Unnecessary questions asked in the returns form should be eliminated. Traders have been worried for several years because they are getting extortion slips from criminals. Appeals have been made to high officials to curb these crimes but situation is still same.
