Sources in Pakistan Railways said that the double rail track from Lahore to Karachi will be operational soon as this track between Raiwind and Okara at the main line is expected to be operational next month. “After the opening of double track between Raiwind and Okara the complete double track will be operational between Lahore and Karachi,” they added.

It is pertinent to mention that the track was scheduled to be completed in 2013 but due to shortage of funds and financial crunch in the department during the previous rule the work got slowed. Now the track is almost ready to be operational and the PR is expected to cross another milestone in December.
