TAIPEI: Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Biotech & Medical Care and Cement sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Taisol (TW:3338), which rose 10.00% or 2.25 points to trade at 24.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Promise Technology Inc (TW:3057) added 10.00% or 1.70 points to end at 18.70 and Hannstar Touch (TW:3049) was up 10.00% or 0.71 points to 7.81 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chlitina (TW:4137), which fell 6.21% or 22.50 points to trade at 340.00 at the close. Topbi (TW:2929) declined 5.19% or 8.00 points to end at 146.00 and Cyberpower (TW:3617) was down 5.02% or 6.00 points to 113.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 426 to 413 and 4 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.59% or 0.24 to $41.60 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.11% or 0.05 to hit $44.25 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.32% or 3.40 to trade at $1066.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.31% to 32.728, while TWD/CNY fell 0.25% to 0.1960.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 100.02.
