DEARBORN: A crowd of Algerian CEOs and ambassadors in town on a trade mission this week are scheduled to meet with Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and the head of the state Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Department Mike Zimmer on Tuesday, according to the American Arab Chamber of Commerce.
The Algerians are on a three-city U.S. tour starting Monday in Washington and ending Friday in San Francisco, according to the U.S.-Algeria Business Council.
The group, which includes U.S Ambassador to Algeria Joan Polaschik, Algerian Ambassador to the U.S. Madjid Bouguerra, Algerian Minister of Industry and Mines Abdeslam Bouchouareb and about 60 CEOs from the North African country, is scheduled to meet in Dearborn at The Henry hotel on Tuesday and Wednesday.
“Algeria is virtually an untapped market for U.S. businesses, and this event will provide networking and meeting opportunities for southeast Michigan business owners to explore potential partnerships and grow their business,” said Fay Beydoun, executive director of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce, in a news release.
“With a population of 39 million people, political stability and a growing economy, Algeria is one of the most attractive markets in the world for U.S. trade and investment.”
Organizers said the goal of the “Doing Business in Algeria Road Show” is to showcase Algerian products and services and give American businesses access to executives and investment information from that country.
