KINGSTON: After surpassing revenue targets by 12 per cent for the first half of the fiscal year, the Jamaica Customs Agency has announced plans to implement additional revenue enhancement measures.
Chief executive officer, Major Richard Reese, while not disclosing the details of the additional measures, said they would also serve to further enhance trade and protect the country’s borders.
The JCA reported that net revenue collections for the first half of the fiscal year came in at J$9.6 billion above the target set by the Ministry of Finance.
According to Reese, the JCA collected J$87.9 billion in revenues between April and September, easily exceeding the target of J$78.2 billion.
He explained further that the J$87.9 billion represented a J$13.3 billion or 15 per cent increase over net collections for the corresponding period last year
