According to details, Faisalabad Custom Bond Branch superintendent received information that M/s Nimra Textile (Pvt ) was indulged in evasion of customs duty and taxes by way of misusing the facility of SRO 450(1)/2001 by importing certain consignments of input goods, falling under Appendix-B of the Import Policy Order.

It was informed that the M/s Nimra Textile Faisalabad – having manufacturing bonded warehouse licence No 12/BWH/MFG/2004 – evaded duty and taxes amounting to Rs 5,877,641.

The respondents pleaded that the said amount of duty and taxes, along with penalty and surcharges, was recoverable from the licence holder for violation of Sections 16, 18, 32 and 32A of the Customs Act, 1969.

However, due to delay in submission of certain documents and comments by the respondent and the petitioner, the case could not be finalised within its statutory time limit. Therefore, an extension in time limit in terms of Section 179(4) of the Customs Act, 1969 was sought from the Federal Board of Revenue.
