ANF seizes 306kg drugs worth Rs856m, arrests 12 traffickers

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized Rs855.58 million worth of 306kg drugs, including 272.2kg charas, 31kg heroin and three kg opium during 10 countrywide operations and arrested 12 accused drug traffickers.

According to details, an ANF Rawalpindi road-checking intercepted a Suzuki Cultus Car Registered No. ANF-224-Karachi near Balkasar Interchange Motorway and recovered 84 kg charas from the vehicle. However, the driver managed to flee from the scene.

An ANF Rawalpindi-Gilgit Team arrested an accused namely Muhammad Sharif, resident of Dasu, Kohistan from Ghari Bagh, Gilgit and recovered one kg charas from his personal possession. The ANF Rawalpindi arrested an accused namely Shoukat Khan, resident of Khyber Agency from Bus Stand Dina, GT Road, Jhelum and recovered 1.2 kg charas from his possession.

The ANF Quetta road-checking team, on an intelligence-based operation intercepted, a Toyota Corolla car registered No. LOG-593 from Said Hameed Cross, Chaman-Quetta Road, Tehsil Gulistan, Distt Qilla Abdullah and recovered 167kg charas and three kg opium concealed inside the car.

The ANF Peshawar road-checking team intercepted a Toyota Hiace Vehicle No. LES-6499 near Main Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar and arrested Niaz Meena, resident of Peshawar. Complete search resulted in recovery of 8.4kg charas.

In another raid, the ANF Peshawar intercepted passenger bus registered No. LES-6886 and recovered 1.2kg charas from possession of accused Muhammad Asghar, resident of Sargodha.

In an information-based operation, the ANF Lahore apprehended an accused namely Mohsin Raza, resident of Faisalabad from Daewoo bus stand and recovered three kg charas concealed inside the suitcase.

During routine profiling, the ANF Lahore arrested an accused namely Muhammad Shahzad, resident of Lahore at Talagang Road Mianwali. The complete search of the accused resulted in recovery of 2.4kg charas.

All the cases have been registered at the respective ANF police stations and further investigation is underway.
