“The ministry is contact with all federal as well as provincial governments to acquire suitable pieces of land, and a few provinces has responded in this regard so far,” he said.

To a question, he said, District Coordination Officers (DCOs) of concerned localities would be authorised to issue certificate with regard to eligibility of applicants for plots under the schemes. He said particulars of allottees would be verified through concerned DCOs so as to ensure that applicant was a homeless person or family. “Provision of plots to low income group will be ensured in a transparent manner,” he added.

To another question, the minister said there were no reports about sub-letting of official residences and if there was any such must point out, we will take action. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, he said, had announced a housing programme for construction of 1000 colonies of 500 houses each, which would be allotted to homeless low income families throughout the country including Islamabad.
