ISLAMABAD: The United States has asked the Customs Department to give duty exemption on import and buying equipment under the USAID health integrated projects in Pakistan.
According to sources, the Economic Division of the government has already sent a letter in which it is stated that USAID has started project of maternal, new born and child health integrated service for which equipment and other related items will be imported.
In its letter, the Economic Division clarified that Pakistan and the United States have signed an agreement under which USAID avtiviites will be exempted from duty and taxes. The letter added that under that agreement section B4 USAID are exempted from duty and taxes on imports and other buying of materials. Economic division requested in its letter that FBR may Issue exemption certificate in this regard.
