Collector adjudication issues ONO against smuggled cloth

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad adjudication collector Raja Tahir Majeed issued ONOs against smuggled cloth.

Customs intelligence received credible information regarding smuggled cloth. It intercepted truck trailer near Zonal office Leopard Courier Service near Susan Road Madina town Faisalabad bearing registration No. TLQ-588 loaded container No. CYKU- 698358-0.

Customs intelligence has seized cloth under section 168 of custom act 1969 and vehicle along with container used for transportation of smuggled cloth were also seized under section 157 of the customs act 1969. The customs intelligence lodged an FIR No. 05/2015 was registered against the consignor and consignee of the seized cloth.

On the charge of being smuggled non duty paid M/S Imran Enterprises Karachi through their legal counsel. The counsel of M/S Imran Enterprises and success international Karachi has contested that the seized cloth was import from china Via Dubai which they both purchased from M/S Muhammad Sajid trading LCC Dubai and was sold by them to Muhammad Dawood and Tahir Masood of Faisalabad.

However, Due to delay in submission of certain documents and comments by the respondent and petitioner. Thereon the case could not b finalized within its statutory time limited. Therefore an extension in time limit in terms of section 179(4) of customs act 1969 were sought from the Federal Board of Revenue Islamabad.
