Ukraine exports 18.7mt in first five months

KIEV: Ukraine has exported 18.7 million tonnes over the first five months of the current crop year (which began July 1), according to a report from the country’s agriculture ministry. The exports included 9.3 million tonnes of wheat, 3.9 million tonnes of barley, and 5.4 million tonnes of corn. The country exported a total of 35 million tonnes in 2014/15 and plans to up that level to 36 million in 2015/16.

The US Grains Council released a quality report for sorghum for the first time ever this week, placing 92 per cent of the country’s crop as number 2 or better grade. Total production for the year was estimated at 15.0 million tonnes by the USDA, with over half destined for international markets.
