AMSTERDAM: The Central Government Real Estate Agency (Rijksvastgoedbedrijf) and Heijmans have signed an Integral Management Contract (IBC) for the management and maintenance of data centres and offices at five Tax and Customs Administration locations in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. This concerns a performance contract with a 10-year term and an option to renew for another 5 years. The contract is valued at over € 25 million. Effective 1 January 2016, Heijmans will assume responsibility for the management and maintenance of the five locations.

Heijmans was selected on the basis of an Economically Most Advantageous Tender (EMAT). In variance from traditional tenders, Rijksvastgoedbedrijf did not prescribe any solutions for the contract in Apeldoorn and instead asked for the market’s expertise. Under this contract, Heijmans and Rijksvastgoedbedrijf will jointly work on the development and implementation of integral management contracts. The conditions of the performance contract among other things stipulate that the contractor must guarantee optimal user quality and data centre availability. This means that Heijmans, in consultation with Rijksvastgoedbedrijf and the Tax and Customs Administration will carry out divergent management and maintenance activities in the constructional, mechanical and electrical engineering domains. Furthermore, Heijmans will advise Rijksvastgoedbedrijf and the Tax and Customs Administration about the management and maintenance of the locations, which have a total floor surface area of approx 167,000 m2.
