Importers, exporters facing hardships at Port Qasim

KARACHI: The importers and exporters are facing hardships due to delay in grounding of their import and export consignments while the staff deputed at the terminal has failed to remove the consignments.

Talking to Customs Today, importers Mohammad Farooq and Sardar Faisal Khan said that some time they take two to three days to remove the consignment from the terminal. They said that importers and exporters have to bear extra demurrage due to this delay. They said that after clearance of their documents importers and exporters have to wait for days for clearance of their consignment.

They further said that in the past we bring this practice in the high-ups of the department, but the situation is still the same. They said this practice is putting a negative impact on business community of the country.

They said that we urged the higher authorities to look into this matter and do the needful to avoid this practice in future.
