Multan Customs impounds non-customs paid car

MULTAN: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan region impounded a non-customs paid car. The market value of seized car is Rs 1.5 million.

Sources told Customs Today, that Additional Director Nisar Ahmad formed a special team of Customs officials on a tip of and during surveillance in the wee hours of morning, the team signalled a suspicious Toyota Fielder car to stop however the driver accelerated the race upon this the Customs team followed the car.

During the prompt chase, the alleged smugglers also hit the car against the roadside park truck and as a result of high speed their car climbed over the divider and the front tyres were burst near Chenab bridge but the injured smugglers fled away by making use of fog away from  the site of incident.

On checking, the Customs officials found the spots of blood in the car and seized it under the Customs Act 1969. The estimated value of the seized car is worth Rs 1.5 million.

It is learnt that the smugglers have also made a contact with the field investigation officer of Customs on mobile phone and threatened him to kill. The officials are trying to trace the mobile number of the smugglers and a separate case has been registered against the unknown smugglers in this regard.
