Customs Court declares suspect proclaimed offender

LAHORE: The Special Customs Court of Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has declared an accused, Zia Shaukat a proclaimed offender for not attending court hearing since long.

As per details, a case had been registered against the accused under Section 156 of the Pakistan Customs Act, 1969, in January 2015. Section 6,7,8,8 and 3 were also imposed in FIR against the accused.

However, the accused was not attending the court since registration of the case despite issuance of many notices to Zia to ensure appearance in person before the court, but he failed to comply with the instructions.

Taking legal action, Special Judge Chaudhry Ameer Muhammad Khan declared the accused, Zia Shaukat a resident of Faisalabad proclaimed offender and ordered him to appear before the court within 30 days to avoid further legal proceedings.
