Multan Customs seizes smuggled CNG cylinders,cloth, tyres‏

MULTAN:Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized smuggled CNG gas cylinders, cloth and tyres of Rs 3 million in a raid here.

Additional Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Nisar Ahmad formed special squad regarding information that smuggled goods were lying in the warehouse. Customs team were comprised of Superintendent Fareed ud din Masood, Inspector Umer, Inspector Nasir  and other sepoys. Customs teams raided private godown in suspect of smuggled goods near Bahawalpur Bypass Road.

After raiding store Customs team recovered 350 smuggled compressed natural gas cylinder kits, 2000 kilogram cloth and 50 tyres. Anti-smuggling operation of Customs Intelligence and Investigation was carried out after obtaining search warrants carried out on Friday evening.

Total estimated value of the recovered goods comes around Rs .3.5 million. FIR has been registered, investigation is in progress and efforts are being made to trace out & arrest the culprits.

It may be mentioned here that the authorities have several markets under surveillance where the smuggled goods are stored and sold. Customs teams have already raided in the surrounding markets of the Vehari road and recovered millions of smuggled goods during successful raids.
