IDUKKI: Excise officials seized 1.5 kg of cannabis and arrested a college student at Vandiperiyar on Sunday. The arrested was Aluva resident Ashik, 21, who is an MBA student at a college in Bengaluru.
The contraband was covered in a paper and concealed in his handbag, said Excise inspector C.K. Sunilraj, who led the team.
Officials of Excise intelligence wing also joined in the search operation, he said. The accused has confessed to purchasing the ganja from an agent at Cumbom in Tamil Nadu.
He was produced before a court and remanded.
