Faisalabad Custom Adjudication issues order-in-original in ceramic tiles smuggling case

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Faisalabad Deputy Collector Ms Asma Hameed has issued order-in-original in favour of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad.

Sources told Customs Today that the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad, after obtaining search warrant from judicial magistrate Sargodha, raided a godown owned by M/s Nadeem Sanitary Store and recovered Iranian ceramic tiles.

The suspect, identified as Sheikh Nadeem Ahmed, was present on the spot. He produced General Declaration only but the invoices was not relevant with the seized Iranian ceramic tiles. The matter was forwarded to Customs Adjudication

During hearing process of the case Senior Intelligence Officer Tahir Iqbal was appeared from the petitioner side and Asim Bashir appeared from respondents and requested to release seized goods upon payment of levisble duty and taxes.

The Customs Adjudication said that it is clear that the seized Iranian Ceramic tiles are smuggled brought in the country without payment of duty and taxes. Hance the same are liable to confiscation under section 156(1)90 of the customs act 1969.
