Customs ASO impounds Indian saries, laces‏ worth Rs10 million

LAHORE: Customs Lahore Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization has seized Rs 10 million smuggled Indian saries and laces, sources told Customs Today.

The sources said that the Customs ASO on information of Collector of Customs Mukarram Jah Ansari intercepted a truck which was coming from Rawalpindi near Sabzi Mandi and seized the truck loaded with illegally imported Indian saries and laces. The truck was initially loaded in Azad Kashmir and somehow reached Lahore, it was said.

The collector constituted a team led by Deputy Director Dr Adnan under the supervision of Superintendent Mumtaz Ajmal Mian while two inspectors Khalid Butt and Irfan Mumtaz were the part of the team which intercepted the above said truck. The sources said that the detained truck belonged to one driver Sudher and the owner name is Nawazish. It was reported that the customs authorities registering a case started investigations.
