KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has sought comments from the Pakistan Customs on bail plea of a Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) staffer in a case pertaining to the smuggling of cellular phones and foreign liquor into country.
A single bench of the SHC comprising Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput issued notice to the customs prosecutor to submit response to the bail application by December 31.
Fida Hussain, PIA employee, approached the high court seeking his release after the Customs Court rejected his bail plea.
According to the prosecution, Fida Hussain was caught with 1,264 mobile phones and nine bottles of liquor at the Jinnah International Airport on November 25. Fida was intercepted at the arrival hall of the airport and the customs officers recovered nine bottles of liquor and 1,264 mobile phones when checked his bags. Subsequently, Fida was taken into custody and an FIR was registered against him.
