NEW DELHI: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials seized 1.52 crore foreign cigarettes worth over Rs 15 crore from a Tughlakabad container depot on Thursday.
The cigarettes were smuggled in from UAE and were to be supplied to zonal dealers in the city.
“The Delhi zonal unit of DRI seized the cigarettes after the consignment arrived at Tughlakabad from different sea ports of the country to undergo customs clearance,” said Sandeep Bhatnagar, principal additional director general, DRI.
