Urea sales reached 48m tons in 11 months

LAHORE: The urea sales in the country have grown by 216 per cent monthly in November 2015 with annual growth clocking-in at 33 per cent after announcement of relief package for farmers.

As per data released by NFDC, urea sales reached 4,758,000 tons during the last 11 months of 2015 against 4,972,000 tons (down 4 percent YoY) in the corresponding period last year. DAP sales continued their upward trajectory with impressive growth of 31 percent YoY (+0.3 percent MoM) for November 2015 as subsidized bags of phosphates continued to roll into the market. Boost in urea sales due to discount is visible from lower closing inventory of 621ktons against opening inventory of 805.8ktons and production of 421.6kton during the month.
