Sargodha ASO seizes 2,376 pieces of iron padlocks

FAISALABAD: The Custom Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has confiscated 24 cartons carrying 2,376 pieces of iron padlocks worth Rs 633,150 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 71,558.

The ASO confiscated smuggled lock under Import and Export Control Act, 1950 read with SRO 499 (1) 2009 punishable under Section 156 (1) 90 of Customs Act, 1969.

The ASO team received credible information through Model Customs Collectorate Collector Dr Zulafqar Ali Choudhary regarding the possible smuggling attempt.

Following the information, the team raided the Al-Islam Goods near Muslims Bazar Sargodha and found smuggled iron padlock. The officials asked the accused person Muhammad Arshad to produce documents showing legal import the items. But he could not do the same; therefore, the ASO confiscated the items.

The ASO team comprising Inspectors Bashir Hussain and Bashir Ahmad, Sepoys Safdar Hussain, Abdul Hameed, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Mansha and others participated in the raid.
