Customs Intelligence seizes 18,216 litres of engine oil worth Rs 6 million

KARACHI: The Custom Intelligence and Investigation has seized 18,216 litres of engine oil worth Rs 6.56 million during an action.

On the directions of Custom Intelligence and Anti-smuggling Director Margoob Ahmed Siddiqui, Additional Director Nadeem Ahsan and Assistant Director Kaleemullah formed a team headed by Deputy Superintendent Haji Aslam to confiscate the smuggled oil, which is not only causing loss to the national exchequer but also imposing negative impact on local traders.

The team comprising Inspector Parwez Ahmed Zardari, Muhammad Aqmal Hashmi, Rana Insram Rabbini, Munwar Ali, and Khuram Saeed raided a godown near Landhi, an area of Karach and recovered 18,216 litres of engine oil.

The recovered engine oil was found non-custom paid, on which the customs officials registered a FIR No. M-2152 against the accused Shahzad. But no arrest was made during the raid.

Talking to Customs Today, Deputy Superintendent Haji Aslam and Rana Insram said that they were performing duties in a fair-way, adding that Customs Intelligence-anti-smuggling will not let the smugglers for carrying out their heinous activities.
