Adjudication Addl. Collector Saima orders to impound trailer, 8000kg chilli seeds

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Saima Aftab ordered to confiscate the 8000 kilograms of chilli seeds and truck being used for transportation of the smuggled goods.

As per details, the Customs Intelligence’s Field Investigation Unit intercepted a trailer bearing Registration No. JU-5778 in Khushab and recovered 200 bags filled with chilli seeds. The officials asked the driver named Shah Jehan resident of Dera Ismail Khan to produce the documents regarding its import.

The driver presented transportation documents issed by M/s Shadab Goods Transport Company along with a goods declaration No. 848, while the officials found the produced GD fake and seized the goods under Section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969 and trailer under Section 157 of the act.

Later the case was forwarded to the adjudication, where Additional Collector Saima Aftab issued Order-in-Original (ONO) in favour of the customs and order to confiscate the chilli seeds and vehicle under Section 156(1)90 and 157(2) of the customs act.

However, an option has been given to its lawful owner to redeem the vehicle on payment of a lump sum amount of Rs 50,000 under Section 181 of the customs act.
