ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif formed a committee on Friday to finalise proposals for resolving gas shortage issues for the textile industry in Punjab during winter.
The committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
Other members of the committee include Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Federal Minister for Textile Abbas Khan Afridi.
In addition, representatives of the textile industry identified by the Punjab government will also be included in the committee, along with any other member co-opted by the chair.
The committee has been tasked to propose mechanisms for sustainable gas supply to the textile industry of Punjab during winter months.
The committee will also address low gas pressure for the industry in Punjab and resolve any other relevant issues.
The committee is expected to start work immediately and submit its report on an urgent basis.
