FBR to bring 23,000 Gujranwala Division traders to tax net

LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has working on a plan to bring 23000 businessmen in tax net in Gujranwala Division.

As many as 13 teams are working to focus on the importers, exporters, manufacturers, industrialists and merchants. The FBR has obtained record of affluent people from the Excise Department, Punjab Board of Revenue.

According to sources, the FBR has decided to bring 11,000 people from Gujranwala and Gujrat RTO, 10,200 from Sialkot, Narowal and Gujrat regional directorate; and 1,800 people from Mandi Bahauddin to tax net.

People who have bought new vehicles, houses and plots will also be brought to the tax net. The board has decided to get record from the departments’ concerned for the assessment of wealth and tax defaulters.

According to RTO Gujranwala officials, the special teams have started to meet businessmen to convince them to pay tax. Teams are also working on transactions of plots and vehicle buyers.
